Post Season Schedule

I may be getting a head of myself a bit here, but hey! We're winning, I want to enjoy it. :) I'm not used to this!

Currently, we are ranked 4th in the Play Offs. We are not likely to improve this ranking, (though there's a chance if we beat the Patriots) as we are currently 2 wins behind Ranks 1-3 . This means that we will be playing a Wildcard, the Wildcard team ranked 5th. This is almost certainly going to be whoever finishes second in AFC North out of the Ravens and Steelers.

Personally I think these two are the best teams in the AFC and one of these will go to the Superbowl. I'd be much more confident of beating any other team in the AFC but I guess... if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best!

Play off analysis

Here are the Current Standings in the AFC West:

Team                W         L
Broncos            8          5
Raiders             7          6
Chargers           6          7
Chiefs               5          8

How do we make the Play Offs? Well, obviously at the moment we're top of the Division having won more games, but what decides the winner if the Division ends in a tie? First, you look at head to head record, at the moment we're 1-1 with the Raiders, and 1-1 with the Chargers, so that's a tie. Next you look at Division record. Currently we're 3-2, Raiders are 2-2, and Chargers are 2-3. So Chargers can't beat us on Division record, only tie us if they beat the Raiders and we lose to the Chiefs. Raiders can beat us by beating the Chiefs and Chargers, if we lose to the Chiefs, or if we beat the Chiefs, tie us.

Next it comes down to common games. Currently, we're 1 ahead here, as we beat the Dolphins, and the Raiders lost to them. They have a chance to match this by beating the Lions this week, who beat us, but even if this happens we can get ahead again by beating either the Patriots, or the Bills, who both defeated the Raiders.

Simples right! Errr... ok, never mind. In summary, don't worry about the Math, as long as we beat the Chiefs, a playoff place is very probable!

New England Patriots - Preview

The next Broncos games will feature Tom Brady and the Patriots, who come to Mile High this week! This will clearly be the toughest test that this Broncos team has had since Tebow stepped in. Everyone expects us to lose, but this Broncos team has real belief, and you can never rule them out. Do I think we'll win? Unfortunately, no, I'm a realist, and I don't quite think we can take them yet, but I wouldn't be too shocked if we won. Nothing with the Broncos can shock me anymore this year!

I imagine a big part of this game will be like the second half of the Vikings match, where a slow start turned into a shootout. We'll need our offense to step up again if we're to win this, The Pats have a poor secondary and week defense. This will help Thomas and Decker, and we should see a few big runs from Tebow and McGahee.

The Broncos defense has done great recently, but Brady is tough. As good as we've been I think we'll have to score at least 20+, that is doable against a weak Pats defense. I doubt McGahee can win this game anymore than he could against Chicago, Tebow's throwing and the WRs catching needs to be at it's best. Go Broncos!

Tebow will be a successful NFL Quarterback

What better topic to start my new Broncos blog than discussing the most controversial player in the NFL? :)

A lot of blogs I read keep claiming Tim is a flash in the pan, 'He'll get found out!' they say, and then fail next year, but they are wrong! Tim will be a successful NFL Quarterback.

'But he can't pass!' 'He can only play in the last 5 minutes!' I hear the Anti-Tebows scream. Yes, he can pass. The problem the Broncos have is not Tebow's passing, it's our Wide Receivers. Their catching is not good enough. Against The Bears on Sunday TT made some perfect throws that our WRs dropped, right to their body! One of these was a Touchdown pass! We'd never have needed to make another comeback if these simple catches would have been caught.

Of course, he could do with some improvement, but he's never had a proper offseason to work on his throwing mechanics and he's still new to the NFL. That will come, combine him with some improved WRs and he'll be part of an offense that can easily hit 20+ points a game. Mix a good passer with a great runner and you have a QB to be afraid of!
